Agricultural vehicle braking

Mise en conformité
Sécurité
From 1 January 2025, the French authorities will be making it compulsory for trailed agricultural vehicles to comply with European braking regulations.
After this date, it will no longer be possible to market or register new trailed vehicles fitted with a single hydraulic line.
The widespread use of dual-line braking systems will require users to ensure that their equipment is compatible when purchasing new machines.

Vigilance over compatibility

On 1 January 2025, the French authorities will make it compulsory for trailed agricultural vehicles to comply with European braking regulations. Widespread use of the dual-line braking system will increase the safety of convoys on the road (hitch failure, balanced tractor-trailer braking), but will oblige users to ensure the compatibility of their equipment when purchasing new machines. Axema has just sent an alert to user, distributor and equipment trade unions and federations.

Find out more about this alert to help companies choose between hydraulic or pneumatic brakes, single or double line. This document deals with :
  • the technical and regulatory compatibility of braking systems between tractors and towed vehicles,
  • regulatory deadlines for the marketing of new vehicles.
